Civically Engaged: Class of 2018
We are so proud of Mackenzie Hawkins, a recent graduate of our Tri Valley delegation, for being recognized by the California Courts as a Class of 2018 Civically Engaged All-Star! City Council Recognizes 71st Youth Governor Recognized
Our Youth Governor, Scott Nagatoshi was recently recognized by the Thousand Oaks City Council for being elected to serve during our 71st program year. We are so excited for the year ahead and can't wait to see all that Scott accomplishes!
Y&G Alumni Making A Difference
We are excited to shine the spotlight on Youth & Government alumn, Jesse Gabriel. Jesse was recently elected to represent the W. San Fernando Valley in the California State Assembly. While attending high school, Jesse participated in our Model Legislature & Court program as a member of the Triunfo delegation. Youth & Government Delegates In Action
Over 3,300 high school youth put months of preparation to work as they debated bills on the actual Senate and Assembly floors, presided over court cases in the Supreme Court of California Chambers, drafted a new state constitution and much, much more. This article focuses on one of the 90 statewide delegations that participated in the final conference of the 70th Model Legislature & Court program year.

3,300 Teens From Across The State Come Together To Change The Future Of Our Communities
Over 3,300 high school students representing California YMCA Youth & Government came together November 10th-12th, 2017 to participate in the 70th Model Legislature & Court (MLC) Training & Elections Conference. Over the course of the weekend, youth delegates learned about and selected the roles within the California State Government that they will assume when they move on to submit budget proposals, debate court cases, draft a new State Constitution and elect their 71st Youth Governor during their final conference in Sacramento in February.

For the first social initiative of the 70th Model Legislature & Court, Y&G delegates created care packages for troops overseas. Thank you to Stuart C. Gildred delegates and every delegation who participated in our social initiative supporting Operation: Care and Comfort. Together we do make a difference!
California YMCA Youth & Government Hosts Annual Training & Elections Conference
On November 10th-12th, Y&G kicked off the first conference of our 70th Model Legislature & Court program year. Over 3,000 youth delegates gathered in Fresno to learn more about our program while meeting their peers from throughout the state.
