California Virtual Youth Assembly
California YMCA Youth & Government is happy to announce our new California Virtual Youth Assembly program for our high school delegates! This three-week program will include two of our largest Model Legislature & Court program areas: Legislative Houses and the National Issues Commission (NIC). This program will provide delegates with the opportunity to expand on the following skills: leadership, debate, public speaking, research and writing, and teamwork. Participants will also learn how to solve local and national issues through the democratic process, as well as debate and discuss ideas with their peers from throughout California.
The program will begin on Monday, June 1st and will conclude during the weekend of June 19th where delegates will have a chance to participate in an online Legislative committee or NIC commission session where they are able to debate their bills or proposals, respectively. Delegates will spend the three-weeks leading up to the online sessions completing assignments, developing and working on their bills or proposals and participating in program-wide activities.
Participants will also have the opportunity to seek leadership positions within the program.
