California Breaks Records During The 52nd Conference On National Affairs

We are so proud of the 25 delegates who represented California during the 52nd YMCA Youth Conference on National Affairs (CONA)! CONA is a ten-day nationwide conference in Black Mountain, North Carolina. Delegates were selected from a highly competitive process and spent months preparing proposals of national and international scope that they debated against their peers throughout the conference.

It was a record-breaking year for California as all 25 delegates advanced from 1st Committee to 2nd Committee, 15 delegates advanced to 3rd Committee, and 9 delegates moved on to the General Assembly and Plenary. California was also named Premier Delegation.

  • Distinguished Delegate Award- Scott Nagatoshi & Emily Kopp
  • Outstanding Proposal - Piper Samuels, Decreasing methane by giving subsidies to farmers who feed their cows seaweed
  • Blue Ridge Spirit Award - Solomon Kim
