Staff Interns are former delegates in their first, second, or third year out of Y&G who have applied to return to help the program in a staff role. First year interns primarily work with the Sophomore Forum in a committee chair advisor role, helping new delegates to get acquainted with the program and its procedures. It is seen as an excellent opportunity for former delegates interested in becoming future advisors or program staff to take the next step from participant to mentor.

The selection process is based on applications and recommendations submitted to the California YMCA Youth and Government office. Experienced returning Staff Interns are eligible for a second year internship where they focus on more detailed roles throughout the Youth & Government program. These second year interns are recruited by program staff from specific program areas.
