T&E 1 Advisor Meeting
The largest group of adults that help to make up the Youth & Government program with the most substantial role are the delegation advisors. Advisors can be YMCA staff or volunteers and may come from YMCA's and High Schools all across the state of California. They serve as chaperones, mentors and trusting friends to the delegates. Most all delegations contain at least one advisor who is also a staff member from that particular YMCA. However, the bulk of the advisors are volunteers, some are teachers, many are former participants and they all commit great amounts of time throughout the year preparing their delegations for multiple conferences. Advisors must be 21 years of age unless a waiver is granted by the President/CEO of California YMCA Youth & Government.

Each fall, we offer several advisor trainings, attendance at which, will determine the ratio of advisors to delegates each delegation may have. Advisors who attend the 2 day Advisor Development Conference (ADC) may supervise 11 delegates. Those who attend the one-day trainings may supervise 9 delegates and uncertified advisors may supervise 7 delegates. Advisors should be subjected to the local YMCA or School's volunteer screening process.
